Gmail for cPanel

Gmail or Google mail is the email service provided by Google. This is different from Google Web Apps where a user uses Google’s paid business applications. This walkthrough will show you how to configure the free Gmail platform to work with your talonX cPanel email address.

Make a note of your email address and your email password so you can reference them when you go through the instructions. See our cPanel email setup section for assistance here.

  1. Login to your Gmail Account.
  2. In the top lefthand corner, open the Settings cog and choose Settings.

  3. Click Accounts and Import.
  4. Click “Add a mail account” under “check mail from other accounts”.
  5. Enter your Email address.

  6. Click the Next button.
  7. Enter your full email address as the Username.
  8. Enter Password for your email account.

  10. Choose any additional options you may want
  11. Click the Add Account button.

Outgoing Mail (SMTP)

  1. Choose ” Yes, I want to be able to send mail as”

  2. Choose if you will use this address as an Alias. We recommend unchecking the ‘Treat as an alias” box.

  3. Click the Add account button.
  4. Choose to send “Send through SMTP server”
  5. Enter the SMTP Server. This will be your
  6. Enter your full email address as the Username.
  7. Enter Password for your email account.
  8. Choose Port 25 (Non SSL) or 465 (SSL).

Google will either send a verification code, or a link to click to confirm your choices. After you confirm this, your email should be good to go. Send an email to and from another email address to test. A new ‘From’ selection will be available in compose a message area.
